Mission
Statement
|
The mission of Digital Community Chest Limited is to improve the quality of life of past full-time employees of Digital Equipment Corporation and subsidiaries in Mainland of China (MOC) and Hong Kong and that of their children; to promote empathy, cooperation and support amongst these people; and to provide relief funds to assist qualified people within this community in coping with adversities.

Goals

- To provide a formal forum through which members of the Digital Community can communicate and share information
- To provide funding for living and education expenses to Ken Yu's younger son Lin Lin up to the age of 18 years, and college education if Lin Lin is willing and academically able for such pursuit.

Organization
|
Digital Community Chest Limited has been established as a limited company under the laws of Hong Kong with the aim to grow and convert to a trust fund. A Board of Trustees was first elected during the 8th DEC Club annual Chinese New Year dinner meeting on February 7, 2000 to serve as the Board of Directors of the future company under the Hong Kong company laws. Re-election, appointment and resignation of trustees shall take place at the annual general meetings (AGM). The Board of Trustees is empowered by shareholders of the Digital Community to manage the funds and assets of the company. Four committees have been established to implement the major functions of the company. These are "The Audit & Compliance Committee", "The Fund-raising Committee", "The Investment & Portfolio Committee" and "The Events Committee" respectively. The Board of Trustees is shown in the following chart.

Rules and Guidelines
|
The following rules and guidelines govern the operation of DCCL:
- All trustees are volunteers, no compensation of any form or substance is allowed.
- Shareholder and trustee voting rights are based on a "one vote per family" basis.
- Voting rights are non-transferable and non-salable.
- Liability and duty of the trustees are equivalent to those of the directors under the company laws of Hong Kong.
- Unless otherwise specified in the Shareholder's Agreement and the Articles of Association & Memorandum, the rules governing limited companies in Hong Kong shall apply.
